I’m Kyle T. Brown, the owner of Absolute Perfection and here I’m going to explain a little about our paintwork correction. If you have any other questions, feel free to email me at email@example.com or call me at work at 616-540-0126.
Paintwork Correction is the careful and methodic removal of swirl marks, clear coat scratches, sanding marks, and other blemishes from a vehicle’s paintwork without damaging or taking away an unnecessary amount of clear coat. Paintwork Correction is actually good for your paint when done properly. You’ve probably heard of the term “buffing” or “buff and wax”. Well this is a totally different service. Most people do not know how to properly buff or polish a vehicle. It takes years to perfect, assuming you’re learning how to do it correctly.
Improper buffing and/or polishing actually damages the paint. It makes the surface uneven, revealing nasty buffing marks and also leaves your paint more vulnerable to early sun fading and other types of damage. The reason I’m telling you this is because you need to have a true professional perform any kind of scratch removal, swirl removal, and any other kind of work that involves fixing anything in your vehicle’s paint. Trust me, it costs a lot less to have it done right the first time compared to the cost of fixing someone else’s mistakes.
I’ve been detailing vehicles for over 14 years now and have been performing paintwork correction for about 8 of those. I’ve researched and studied for hundreds, if not thousands of hours. I used my own vehicle to learn on and started with very fine polishes before working up to more aggressive compounds. I’m not bragging when I say I’m insanely good at this now. It’s just the truth. I have 2 people who work with me now. One is my brother and the other is my best friend’s brother. Neither of them touched a buffer/polisher for over a year after they started detailing vehicles. I finally started training them over a year long period before trusting them to completely do it on their own. My point is, at Absolute Perfection, we take the time and patience needed to do things correctly. Your vehicle will be treated with the care and respect it deserves.
We charge $75/hour for our paintwork correction. Most of the work is done using the newest Rupes Bigfoot Polisher along with Rupes polishes although we still use some specialty Menzerna and 3M products depending on what we’re working on. There’s no magic cure that works for every type of vehicle/paint. That’s why we utilize several different types of polish brands, polisher types, and pad types to meet the needs of whatever we’re working on.
Here’s a general breakdown of what it would cost to have paintwork correction performed on your vehicle. The prices are estimates and include the cost of prepping (cleaning and decontaminating the exterior) and also protecting the finish with Jet Seal. We also have glass (nano) coatings that can be applied for a nominal fee.
1 Level: $300 (this is the same as our Luxury Exterior Detail on our Detailing Menu page) corrects fine to medium swirls, fine to medium clear coat scratches, and other fine to medium abrasions in the clear coat of the paint while leaving a hologram free finish, very similar to what our 2 level service used to be
2 Levels: $450, corrects nearly all swirl marks and most scratches in the clear coat while leaving a hologram free finish
Full Correction: $850, corrects nearly all imperfections in the clear coat of the paint, this will include 3-4 levels depending on the severity of correction needed and also application of 2 layers of CQuartz to the paintwork for extremely durable and long lasting protection
The photos below show paintwork correction (2 levels) we performed recently on a brand new Audi S8. The first photo shows how it came from the dealership. No, I’m not kidding.
